Sultan Minerals' Drill Program Continues to Expand Gold Mountain Zone - Kena Property, BC

 Gold Mountain Zone

Sultan Minerals Inc. (SUL-cdnx) is pleased to announce that it has now received assay results from the first four drill holes (01GM-08 to 01GM-11) of the expanded exploration program on the Gold Mountain Zone of the Company's Kena Property, located north of Ymir in southeastern British Columbia.

The following table shows assays for holes 01GM-08 through 01GM-11, with assays of greater than 1.0 oz/t cut to 34.29 g/t (1.0 oz/t) gold. The four drill holes test a 400 metre wide by 100 metre long section within the 1,500 metre long, coincident geophysical and geochemical anomaly. All four holes were mineralized over their entire length and show several high-grade intersections within a wide zone of pervasive low-grade gold mineralization. The highest intersection encountered to date was from previously reported drill hole 01GM-08 which intersected a band of disseminated visible gold mineralization near 205 metres depth. The 2 metre interval containing this band of gold mineralization assayed 172.10 g/t gold, uncut.

Holes 01GM-08 to 10 were collared along the same section line at 11+00N and each represented a 75 metre step back from the previous hole. Hole 01GM-11 was collared along line 12+00N. Hole 01GM-09 collared in intrusive rock, but intersected a broad interval of heavily oxidized and broken intrusive underlain by a wedge of volcanic rocks from 56 to 106 metres contain depleted gold values. Hole 01GM-10 was in propylitically altered intrusive for most of its length and bottomed in the above referred to volcanic wedge. Hole 01GM-11 was collared in propylitic altered intrusive to 100 metres, then went through the intermittent volcanic wedge to 188 metres, then back into intrusive which was highly potassic and silica altered to 268 metres. At 338 metres the hole intersected the footwall volcanic unit. The intensely altered segment showed elevated copper and molybdenum values along with the gold mineralization.

Sultan's current drill program consists of a series of aggressive step outs planned to test the consistency of gold mineralization throughout the central portion of the Gold Mountain Zone, up to 700 metres north, 700 metres south and 400 metres west of the Gold Mountain discovery area. The program has to date been extremely successful in demonstrating the lateral continuity of mineralization.

It is anticipated that this drill program will continue till late 2001. Once this initial step out phase is completed, one drill will continue to do infill and definition drilling in areas with higher gold grades. At the same time, the second drill will investigate extended geophysical and geochemical targets that are currently being defined to the north and south of the Gold Mountain Zone. Permitting is currently being arranged for an additional 20 drill holes in this planned phase 3 drill program
