Drill Hole 6 Confirms Bulk Tonnage Potential

Kena Property -- Gold Mountain Zone

Sultan Minerals Inc. (SUL-cdnx) is pleased to announce the results of diamond drill hole 6 (01GM-06) from the Gold Mountain Zone on its Kena Property, located near Nelson in southeastern British Columbia.

Hole 6 represents the first significant step-out from the "discovery" area. This hole was collared 50 metres grid south of the collars of holes 1 through 3 (01GM-01 to 03). The hole was drilled to 135.33 metres depth, at -- 45o dip along an azimuth of 060o, parallel to holes 1 to 5 in order to test the lateral continuity of mineralization intersected in the first five holes.

As with all previous holes, hole 6 was mineralized over its entire length from 8 to 132 metres and contained visible gold. Near the surface, from 18 to 34 metres, 16 metres averaged 1.01 g/t gold, while deeper in the hole, still in significant mineralization, a 32-metre section from 100 to 132 metres averaged 1.20 g/t. Over the length of the core, three 2-metre intervals gave higher grades of 3.59 g/t, 5.11 g/t, and 9.08 g/t gold. The best 2-metre sample, running 9.08 g/t gold, was located only three metres from the bottom of the drill hole. It is planned to deepen this hole at a later date.

Also, of special interest is the fact that the 9.08 g/t gold interval from hole 6 initially returned 7.31 g/t gold when fire assayed. Due to the coarse nature of the visible gold in this interval, a gold metallics assay was also done. When assayed in this manner, the gold value increased by 1.77 g/t or nearly 20% indicating that a portion of the coarser gold was screened out of the sample prior to the original fire assay. Additional intervals in this drill hole are currently being re-assayed for gold by using the metallics method.

A further significant step-out of 300 metres in drill hole 7 (01GM-07) to the south of holes 1 to 05 has been completed, testing an area of 160 by 300 metres. Assays for hole 7 are pending.

Assays for the six holes completed to date are given in the following table:

* - Holes 01GM-01 to 05 were previously reported in News Releases
dated June 26, 2001, and July 18, 2001.

This is just the beginning of a proposed program to develop major tonnage on the Company's extensive 17-kilometre Kena Property. The first priority will be to define target areas for diamond drilling of the higher grade gold mineralization reported in the July 12 and 24, 2001, news releases. The next priority is to continue to develop sufficient tonnage and grade to commence an open pit operation.

The Property has excellent infrastructure, being crossed by a major highway, power line, and gas line and rail bed. Several hydroelectric dams are located within a few kilometres of the property, as are numerous small to medium sized communities with an experienced work force. With a positive new provincial government, all the credentials for a large and successful mining operation are in place for the Kena Property.

A.G. Troup, P.Eng
